Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick

Spring feels like it's right on the horizon, and we've already had a couple of sunny (and even slightly warm) days. In true spirit of that, I've already reached for some of my favourite spring/summer products.

Last year I simply couldn't get enough of the Bourjois Shine Edition Lipsticks. They are a true ‘throw in your bag to wear all day’ kind of product. The colours leave just enough tint on the lip, and they give a gorgeous shine. They are also super moisturising, thanks to the added mango butter ingredient! I think of them as half way in between a lipstick and a Revlon lip butter. Your getting great colour, but with shine and moisture too.

L-R - 24, 22, 20
The three pictured here are my most favoured colours, number 20 - 1,2,3 Soleil which is the most gorgeous coral, 22 – Famous Fuchsia which is a hot fuchsia pink, and 24 – Rose xoxo which is probably my most worn as it’s such a lovely muted pink. All the colours are really wearable, and easy to apply on the go.

You can pick these beauties up from Boots or Superdrug for £7.99 each. Bargain right?

To me, these are perfect lipsticks for when the warmer weather starts to kick in. I like something a little lighter and not so matte in the summer, and with the shine and colour these give, you couldn't ask for more.

Next Route Style Eye Makeup Competition

I was approached by the lovely Roch and Tash from Next Route Style blog to enter an eye makeup competition they were running. I immediately jumped at the chance! What a great way to get involved and of course do what we all love, get creative with make up. And with a £20 Feel Unique voucher and post on their blog up for grabs, it was added incentive!

I didn't really plan my look, but I knew I wanted to go wth a smoky cat eye effect and got more ideas as I went along. Here's what I created.

And here's a little snippet of some of the products I used for this look.

How to get this look...

1. I always prime my eyelids before using any shadow, my choice was the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

2. I then went in with a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the colour Horseradish. I applied it straight from the stick, all over the lid and blended the edges with my finger.

3. Using a Mac 239 brush I applied Macs gorgeous green colour called Humid all over the lid and blended with a clean Mac 217 brush until neat.

4. Then I added some of Macs Black Tied to the outer edges of my eye and winged it out slightly following the shape of my eye. I also took some Black Tied under the lower lash line. I then used another 217 to blend that all together.

5. I then used YSL's Shocking Eyeliner on my top lash line, winging it out and joining to the bottom lashes.

6. For my water line, I wanted to keep with the green smokey theme, so used Urban Decay's 24/7 Eye Pencil in the colour Mainline.

7. I applied Bourjois Volumizer mascara in Ultra Black to my top lashes. This mascara is great for building volume as it has two steps which adds different amounts of mascara to the wand.

8. For my bottom lashes I applied Clinique's Bottom Lash Mascara.

9. Lastly I added some Eyelure lashes in number 101 using the Duo lash glue.

If you like my look, then please please vote for me on Next Route Style's blog post by leaving my name Kayleigh Goddard as a comment.  Click HERE... It's that simple.

I appreciate all votes, and good luck to all the girls in the competition, there's some really great make up skills that have been showcased during this comp.

And thats to Roch and Tash for running this comp, i've really enjoyed doing it!

New Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons

My new lip obsession this week lies with Bourjois's latest release, the Colour Boost Lip Crayons.

Top-Bottom - Peach on the Beach, Fuchsia Libre and Red Sunrise
Since the release of the Clinique Chubby Sticks, the beauty world has gone mad for this style of lip product. Following Clinique, we had the drugstore releases from the likes of Revlon, MUA, Soap & Glory and 17 to mention just a few. I absolutely love Revlon's version of these, and you can read my review on them here.

So I guess it's no surprise that Bourjois have jumped on the bandwagon and released their very own version.

Top-Bottom - Peach on the Beach, Fuchsia Libre and Red Sunrise
Bourjois have only released four colours at the moment, but I love the colours they've chosen, they are such pretty shades for the summer. I picked up three of the four shades on offer, and they were, Red Sunrise, Peach on the Beach (love that name) and Fuchsia Libre. They are available for £7.99 each at Boots, and are currently on a 3 for 2 offer. They are also available at Superdrug.

The formula is really moisturising and quite creamy. Bourjois promises 10 hour moisturisation and hydration along with waterproof colour. Unfortunately, i think that's a little over ambitious, as these don't seem to last anywhere near that long on me. Although for some strange reason, I actually enjoy to reapply my lip products throughout the day, so it's OK by me.

The pigmentation is great for all the colours and a great addition to this product is the SPF that Bourjois have added to the formula. With the current weather these are the perfect choice for a pop of colour teamed with an SPF 15 protection. :)

Overall another great product from this brand and a perfect lip choice for the summer.

Anyone else tried these yet? What's your thoughts?

New Bourjois Bronzing Products

I love popping in to Boots and seeing what’s new in the makeup world. Recently I spotted these new items from Bourjois, and being a fan of the brand anyway, thought I’d give them a try.

The new line revolves around ‘bronzing’ which couldn’t be more perfect for this time of year, especially when the sun doesn’t seem to be making much of an appearance! The items consist of a bronzing primer, a bronzing BB cream and a pressed powder bronzer. I picked up the primer and the BB cream, as I’ve never tried these products when they include a bronzing agent before.

Bourjois boasts that the shades are universal and will match any skin tone, but my immediate impression was, ‘wow, it’s dark’. The primer especially looks incredibly dark when you first place it on the skin. After blending it in, it did seem to match my skin tone, whilst adding a bronzing effect to it too. I really don’t think this product would suit a fair skin though, I have a bit of a tan anyway at the moment, and was still worried it was a little too dark for me.

After I had applied the primer, I wasn’t sure if I liked the finish of it. I normally use the Smashbox Photo Finish primer, which leaves a really satin smooth finish to my skin and foundation glides over it perfectly. I let the primer set in to my skin, and I must admit, my skin felt better to the touch within 5 minutes. It did seem to matify my skin, which is a must for any primer.

L-R - BB Cream, Primer
With BB creams, I normally like to apply them with my fingers and massage the product in to my face, but this seemed to dark to chance it. I decided to try to apply it with a duo fibre face brush. Again, it seemed very dark going on the skin, but it was easy to blend using the brush. The BB cream markets itself as an 8 in 1 cream, promising to even skin tone, give a sheer tint, boost radiance, give 16 hour moisturisation, smooth skin, prolong tan, give a refreshing sensation and it also contains SPF 15.

Bourjois state that the products have an addictive scent, and they are definitely right, especially the primer. Anyone ever tried Bourjois’s chocolate bronzer? It smells like that, but better in my opinion!

I'm definitely going to give these products a good trial over the summer months. Anybody else tried them? What do you think?

Mini Boots and Superdrug Haul

I headed in to town to celebrate a friends birthday last friday and ended up having an hour to kill before meeting her. Only one place for it... Boots! So after some browsing (and a majorly long time at the new Ojon stand) I picked up a few items.

I am really enjoying using this hand creme since purchasing it. It is an incredibly thick formula, therefore more of a night treatment for your hands. It smells gorgeous (reminds me of Christmas for some unknown reason), and i've really noticed a difference in my hands. I smooth this over just before bed time and wake up with lovely soft hands! Perfect.

I fell in love with this colour as soon as I saw it. It's so pretty, I had to have it. I think it'll be perfect for an autumn pink as it's a darker plummy shade. I applied two coats and that seemed perfect. I wore this for 4 days, and didn't even chip even without a top coat. I can see myself wearing this colour a lot this autumn.

I was very excited to see Ojon finally had a stand in Boots. After talking to the rep and trying some products out, myself and my friend were sold on this brand. I've been wanting to try there products for a long time, so this was a welcome opporutnity. I have written a full review with my thoughts on both these products, so if you would like to read more on these, you can do so here.

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover

This product truly is a wonder. We've all been at the point where our nail varnish is chipping, but we just can't be bothered having to sit down with nail polish remover and several cotton pads to take it off. Well this makes life soooo much easier. As it says in the title, this product is truly 'magic'! You basically put your finger in the hole, twist it a couple of times, pull it out, and hey presto... no nail varnish. I literally had my nails "varnish free" within 30 seconds! Wow!

MUA eyeshadow
Lastly, i just picked up this eyeshadow from MUA. I wanted a really bright white colour for the inner corners of my eyes for a particular look I wanted. I got this in Shade 1, Pearl. It's such a bright shimmery colour and really brightens up the eye area. And for a £1 who can argue?

So that's it for my mini haul this time. Really enjoying using all these products at the moment. Have you tried any? What are your thoughts?
