L'Oreal Elnett Volume Excess Hairspray

Recently I've been trying a lot of hair products, mainly ones which will put a bit of life in to my incredibly fine hair. When Glamour sent me Loreal's Elnett Satin Hairspray in Volume Excess*, I couldn't wait to try it.

I've always been a fan of the L'Oreal Elnett hairsprays, as i think they have one of the best holds of all the brands, but this one also promises volume which is an added bonus! I've been using this pretty much every day and I can honestly say the hold is fantastic. Curls tend to fall out of my hair pretty quick, and I normally have to use a lot of products to keep them in, however this alone held my curls all night and in to the next day. I actually got compliments from my friends to how good my curls still looked at the end of our girls night out!

What I liked most about the product is it doesn't feel too heavy in your hair, and certainly not sticky as some hairsprays do. The product also features a backcombed volume effect, which I loved as I think giving lift as well as hold with a hairspray is fab. You can buy this product from Boots for £6.60, which again seems quite reasonable for such a great product.

Has anyone else tried this release in to the L'Oreal Elnett range? What's your thoughts?

L'Oreal #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray

Following on from my recent dreams of having voluminous hair, (which basically involves buying and trying any product which promises me this), I have come across a wondrous product.

I was actually looking for a new salt spray after finishing my Redken one recently, and saw a new product from L'Oreals Studio Line called the #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray. Perfect! The title couldn't have sold me anymore, and in the basket it went.

If you've read some of my past posts you'll know I've tried a lot of 'volumising' products, but this is by far the best of the bunch. I mostly used the Batiste XXL Plumping Powder (review here) and worked into my roots for added volume, but I found it left my hair feeling slightly sticky and rigid.

L'Oreals latest release doesn't have any of these after effects, and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth, and bouncing with volume. It really gives instant and noticeable results which last longer in my hair than most products. The other bonus is it's in spray form, so much easier to use. I spray some through my roots, and down the lengths of my hair, then tease it in to place. At £3.79 from Boots it really is a steal.

I love this product, and even bought another one to leave at my mums house for when I stay there. I just can't be without it! Anyone else tried this? What's your thoughts?

L'Oreal Fibrology Hair Trio

My quest for fuller, thicker hair has been ongoing for years now. I buy products which promise the world, then after a few applications my hair is still limp, lifeless and as flat as a pancake. Massive sighs! Regardless of my past failings I still can’t resist, so when I saw this new shampoo and conditioner that L'Oreal had released, I had to give it a go.

Boots were offering the shampoo, conditioner, and a thickening booster treatment for an introductory offer price of £10, so I snapped up all three. My hope was heightened when the cashier exclaimed she was using it and it had actually worked really well for her.

The science behind this new release is a little ingredient called Filloxane. Apparently this has been proved to penetrate the tiny fibres in your hair, which then expand, leaving your hair looking fuller and thicker! Still not sold? Well, they say this has a long lasting effect, and that is what we all want from a product of this type right?

I used the shampoo, rinsed, then the idea with the thickening booster treatment is you add it to your conditioner before applying it to your hair. Now, it is quite a small tube, and I can't imagine it lasting more than 4-5 washes to be honest. You don't have to use that of course, all the products contain Filloxane, but if you wanted the extra boost, it could get pricey as that costs £5.99 on its own!

I might be incredibly optimistic, or maybe all the hype around this product had gone to my head, but my hair actually felt thicker in the shower while rinsing the conditioner out. It was a little scary how (if) it had worked that quickly.

I've been using this for a week or so now, and can honestly say I do see some results. Even though I do use other thickening products as well when styling my hair, I think this product has definitely helped.

All in all, loving this new find and will definitely be continuing with it to see the long term effects. You can buy or see the other products in the range on Boots website here. Anyone else tried this? What's your thoughts?

Yves Saint Laurent Supershock Eyeliner

I went on holiday recently and picked up this little beauty in duty free. I've wanted to try it for a while now, as the Shocking mascara is one of my all times faves. As it turns out they make a great combo!

The packaging is gorgeous as always with YSL products (and to be honest it should be for the price tag!). This ink liner glides on and gives a really precise finish, especially when using to flick out the liner on your upper lash line. It's so wearable, even with a natural eyeshadow look, and didn't smudge or move on me all day. I seriously had to double check it wasn't waterproof!

At £24 it is extremely pricey for an eyeliner, but it definitely does the job, and the tip seems to stay in pristine condition after many applications.

I'm not gonna lie, it's very similar to the Loreal Superliner, which is obviously a hell of a lot cheaper. But overall, I'm really enjoying wearing this liner at the moment. You can pick it up from Boots here if your interested in trying it out.

Anyone given this a go? What's your verdict?

Exciting New Product

So we've all heard of the new trend at the moment, 'ombre-ing' your hair, or dip dying. Several celebrities are sporting the fashion at the moment and I think it looks really great. I'm so bored of my hair at the moment and have been looking at DIY solutions to do this.

 My prayers have been answered!!!

I heard L'Oreal were releasing a home dip dye kit in September, and it's finally arrived on Boots website (I believe it will also be available in Superdrug). Woohoo! It's called L'Oreal Preference Wild Ombre and is priced at £6.99, which is just amazing value. It comes complete with full instructions and a comb for precise application. They have released it in 3 shades:

No 1, Light Brown to Dark Brown
No 2, Dark Blonde to Medium Brown
No 3, Blonde to Dark Blonde

I am off to buy this as soon as possible, and excited to try it out. I hope it lives up to the hype and leaves me with lovely ombred hair! Review to come, keep posted!

Saturday Haul

OK, so I think most of us have a slight obsession when it comes to shopping, but I think mine may be getting out of hand. Popped in to my local town on Saturday to go to the post office (yes... just the post office) and just couldn't resist Boots or Superdrug. These are the only two shops in my local town that you'd probably have heard of... anyway, I couldn't help myself. Here's what I bought.

L'oreal's Nude Magique BB cream

I had originally intended to purchase the Maybelline BB cream for summer, however since the sun has only reared it's head recently I decided to opt for this BB cream instead to try. It was £9.99 from Boots and I got mine in the shade Medium which seems perfect for my skin tone. It comes out as a white cream with little dots in it, these dots are what L'oreal call 'Smart Pigment Capsules'. Once you start applying this to your skin, the cream transforms in to a light covering foundation that blends and hydrates your skin. I've only worn this the once so far, but I'm really liking it for summer coverage.

imPRESS Press on Manicure

I am totally addicted to these press on nails for nights out at the moment. They are so quick and easy to use. I was a bit of a sceptic at first after using glue on nails in the past which seem to fall off after an hour, but these stay on for daaaaays! I saw this cute design and couldn't resist. This design is called Chic Mystique and I purchased them from Superdrug as they were a pound cheaper than boots! :)

Barry M Lip Paints

I picked up these two lipsticks from the Barry M range as they have an offer at the moment where you can get 2 for £7! I've never tried Barry M lipsticks before so I must admit I was a little sceptical. I normally prefer moisturising lipsticks as my lips get so dry, but I thought I would give these a go anyway! I bought the shades 53 Coral and 151 Sunset. I have worn the Sunset shade which seemed to dry my lips out just slightly, so I teamed it with a lipgloss which helped. Looking forward to trying these lip sticks out a bit more! See swatches below.

L'oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick

I picked this Lipstick up as there was an offer on L'oreal products, where if you bought a product you got the second for half price. So after purchasing my BB cream I got this lipstick for the delightful price of £3.99! The shade I got is Fashionista Pink and is from Boots again (gotta love those advantage card points!). It's an incredibly sheer moisturising lipstick with a tint of baby pink. I've worn this a few times already since Saturday and I love it for a day to day lipstick, especially in summer. Left my lips feeling in a great condition as well! See a swatch above!

Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades Blushalicious Blusher

No.7's blusher in Damson has been a staple favourite of mine for the summer months, but I decided I fancied a change. I had originally picked up a Rimmel blusher which also combined four shades, but then saw this one and realised it was half the price and I also liked the colours better! It was only £3.99 from Boots. I normally don't look at the Collection 2000 range, only to repurchase my lasting perfection concealer, but I'm sure glad I did as I think this may be my new fave summer blush! There is a slight shimmer to the shades but for a subtle day look, the shimmer isn't too overwhelming.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch

I have been looking for a high street highlighter for such a long time, but never found anything worth purchasing. Even though I normally prefer a powder highlighter, (this one is liquid based), the colour was so lovely I thought I would give it a try. I bought mine from Superdrug for £4.99 in the shade Shimmering Sands, they also do a Rose coloured one. I tried this very briefly and although it isn't the most noticeable highlighter I've ever used, it certainly brightened up my cheek and brow bones.

MUA Intense Glitter Eyeliner

I have to say, I'm a BIG fan of MUA products. They definitely win the 'budget make up award' in my opinion. I bought this eyeliner in Jade Jewel for £1 from Superdrug and I absolutely love the colour. It's really pigmented and glides on so easily, even over eyeshadow on the top lash line. I tried this gently blended in to my lash line with MAC's Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow and it looked really great. Definitely brightened up the look for summer, and was a nice change to my gel eyeliner i normally wear. All in all, I'm a fan of MUA products when on a budget!
